Uncle Dong in Woan-Tsyr's mind
Uncle Dong is terrific. He devoted all his life to the job of making inkstones, and never gives up halfway. I believe it takes lots of time and effort to carve an inkslab. However, Uncle Dong has spared no effort in devoting his undivided attention to this job seriously. Besides, all his works were very beautiful and amazing, and the price was reasonable too. What I liked best among his works was entitled, ¡¥Breeding'. This work shows a mother pig feeding her little ones, which looks very warm and harmonious indeed
Uncle Dong in Bor-Herng's mind
Uncle Dong in my mind is very kind and very nice to everybody, who doesn't lose temper easily. I admired him very much, because every inkstone he made was wonderful, especially the One Hundred Dragons Inkslab, of which each dragon was vividly carved, like one hundred real dragons flying in the sky. In spite of my admiration for this, my favorite of Uncle Dong's sculptures was Bei Fong Bridge( ¸OÂ×¾ô ), because Uncle Dong carved the bridge like the real one, even the color was very similar.
Uncle Dong in Yi-Jen's mind
Uncle Dong is great. He never gave up this job of making inkstones halfway. He devoted undivided attention to work and showed filial obedience to his parents. Each work has its own character. That's the reasons why I admired him so much. We ought to learn this working spirit from him. Among his many works, I like ¡¥The Twelve Animals of the Year' most, because they can demonstrate to foreigners an important aspect of our cultural tradition, which is unique to the Chinese and can't be found in foreign countries.
Uncle Dong in Yu-Jing's mind
I admired most the inkstones carved by Uncle Dong, especially those with three-dimensional decorations, which I found very difficult to carve after I carved an inkstone myself. But Uncle Dong can carve the 100-Dragon Inkslab at ease. That's one hundred dragons! I really admired him of this achievement. According to Auntie Dong, he was very hard-working that he often forgot eat when he was at work. She would be surprised instead if he was willing to eat in that situation. I like Uncle Dong's One Hundred Dragons Inkstone most because it takes a lot of time to finish it. Uncle Dong is really great.
Uncle Dong in Guan-Ming's mind
Uncle Dong is wonderful. He was able to carve various lifelike patterns on an inkslab. I really admire him very much. What I like most among his many works was the 100-Dragon Inkslab. Why? Because it looks as if there were one hundred dragons flying, which is really beautiful.
Uncle Dong in Wei-Ciyuan's mind
Uncle Dong is really great. People call him Master Dong. When he was working on inkstones, he devoted undivided attention to it, to the extent that he even forgot to eat. He is also filial to his parents. He never gave up his job of making inkstones. Every dragon on either his 100-Dragon Inkslab or 9-Dragons-Inkslab was carved lifelike and full of motion. That's the reason why I like his Hundred-Dragon Inkstone most. He is really amazing.
Mr. Dong insists on his devotion to the art of inkstone carving, Not only does this approach give out as much light and heat as he can, but also a sense of new epoch to the traditional inkstone, thereby broaden s ed the horizonof a gradually fading industry of inkstone-carving art. As the famous writer Mr. Yong Liou put it, ¡§Practical training from tough work was like carving an ink stone. An excellent worker is like a good ink stone, which made it possible for the job to be done, and improved the quality of worker at the same time.¡¨ What we have to learn most from Uncle Dong Zuo is his spirit of dedication to the Luosishih inkstone - carving art, as well as his tireless efforts to ensure that the supreme quality of Luosishih inkstones can be maintained and the torch of Luosishih culture can be passed on from generation to generation.
